Programme de la formation

The "Bildungsurlaub in Nancy" program offered by International House Nancy is an intensive French language immersion designed for adult learners seeking to develop their linguistic, cultural, and civic competencies. Over the course of two full-time weeks (30 hours per week), participants engage in dynamic and interactive learning, with a strong focus on real-world communication and cultural understanding. The program integrates: Language skill development (listening, reading, writing, and speaking) through authentic materials and task-based activities. Systematic grammar and vocabulary acquisition adapted to the learner’s level (beginner, intermediate, or advanced). Cultural and political awareness, explored through daily modules on French society, institutions, social values, and public policies. Active participation, including role-plays, debates, written productions, and guided reflections. Designed to meet the requirements of Bildungsurlaub regulations, this program ensures meaningful progress in French proficiency while offering insights into the social and civic life of the Francophone world.

Équipe pédagogique

The quality of teaching within the IH (International House) network is based on the professionalism of its instructors: individuals with a solid academic background (at least a Bachelor’s degree) and significant experience in teaching the target language. At IH Nancy, preference is given to native speakers of the language taught in order to ensure authentic communication, with natural pronunciation, prosody, and intonation, and to integrate intercultural understanding naturally into the training process. Our pedagogical approach: Learners are viewed as social and professional actors, expected to carry out tasks driven by purposeful, goal-oriented action — linking thought and practice. Language learning is not limited to mastering grammar, spelling, or syntax. Through authentic professional and everyday communication situations, learners are exposed to genuine linguistic structures, which they learn to understand and reuse in both their professional and social lives. Linguistic knowledge (vocabulary, spelling, grammar, prosody, etc.) is taught inductively: moving from meaning to form.

Suivi de l'exécution et évaluation des résultats
  • Ongoing formative assessments during the course (oral interactions, written exercises, comprehension tasks). End-of-week evaluations, including a grammar and vocabulary test, oral production, and written tasks. Final assessment at the end of the second week, covering comprehension, expression, and cultural knowledge.
Ressources techniques et pédagogiques
  • Authentic materials: articles from the press, video reports, TV5 Monde resources, and real-life administrative or cultural documents. Textbooks: Les Experts, Alter Ego, Cosmopolite, Taxi!, Point FLE, and other CEFR-aligned FLE manuals. Digital tools: interactive whiteboards, online exercises, multimedia platforms, and educational websites. Tailored handouts and worksheets, designed by IH Nancy’s teaching team to match the learners’ level and objectives.

Qualité et satisfaction

Learner satisfaction rate (based on post-course evaluation forms): target ≥ 90% positive feedback. Level progression: % of learners who show measurable improvement of at least half a CEFR level over the two-week course duration.
